Miss Huntington Beach Scholarship Pageant

P.O. Box 7349

Huntington Beach, Ca. 92615

Jena Jean Farris, 20, emerged from a field of eight finalists to capture the crown of Miss Huntington Beach, Saturday at Golden West College.

The beauty pageant, which was launched in 1910, provides a $3,000 scholarship and $1,500 each to two runners-up. They winners represent the city at civic events throughout the year.

Farris is a graduate of Marina High School and an honor student at Golden West College. She hopes to transfer to Long Beach State in fall and major in sociology. Because her grandmother died of cancer, Jena’s platform is to support the American Cancer Society. She has twice organized teams for the Huntington Beach Relay for Life, raising more than $4,000 for cancer research.

The program is directed by the Sand Dollars of Huntington Beach, a local service club that has produced the pageant since taking it over from the JC’s in 1977.

First runner-up Sophia Silveria, 17, and second runner-up Tia Giron, 17, are both seniors at Huntington Beach High.
